LOVE What Matters – I Don’t Care About Your Job Title

I’m not interested in your job title.

Whether it’s top ranking leadership or entry level in any organization.

I want to know if you make time to be with the ones you love the most.

I’ve had a fancy title and a paycheck to go with it. It was fun for awhile. It definitely paid the bills. But it meant that my time was not my own. Even when I wanted to make time for my people, I couldn’t. One Thanksgiving found me on the bathroom floor in the home of my sister-in-law handling an escalation while my family ate without me. My kids were growing up too fast and I was missing out. Now I appreciate time with my people so much more.

When I’m in the home stretch of my days and looking back over a lifetime, I hope I can look back and feel I made enough time for the ones I love the most.

Whether or not you are a religious person, I’m betting you are familiar with 1 Corinthians 13:7

Love bears all things,
believes all things,
hopes all things,
endures all things.

This verse is spoken in so many wedding ceremonies.

Love is what pulls us together. That makes anything possible.
That can make us smile in the midst of tears and despair.
That celebrates in the victories and new beginnings.
That makes each day matter.

I hope you have enjoyed this LOVE What Matters series over the last two months. I have thoroughly enjoyed the responses from folks as various posts touched you in personal ways.

Come back next week as I kick off a new series on favorite photographs and how much they mean to us.
